White Tail Deer
2008 : Season - Nov 1st through
Jan 4th – Limited opportunities still available
Valle Venado Land
& Cattle still has a few openings for the 2008 White Tail Deer
season. The ranch provides ideal habitat for deer with cover ranging from
open grass, heavy shinnery, sage and stands of
oak with multiple shelterbelts. The topography of the ranch includes
several mesas overlooking drainage breaks into wet weather creek bottoms.
The deer are provided with ample natural cover and ample amounts of
forage. Corn is provided through the use of deer feeders and several
dedicated protein feeders are located on the ranch. Hunting is over
feeders from various style ground blinds.
Five-day hunts are limited to a maximum of five
hunters at any time. The fee for the five-day hunt is
$1500 and are scheduled for Monday through Friday. Additional days
(if available) may be added to the hunt for $175 per additional day. Collingsworth County is a three deer county (one
buck and two antlerless). Day hunts are available at $300 per day with a
two hunter minimum. For day hunts only, a trophy fee of $50 per point
will apply for any buck taken which exceeds six points. Hunting will be
by rifle only. Hunters are encouraged to harvest at least one doe in
addition to their buck. If you do not wish to retain any animal for
it’s meat we will make arrangements for it’s donation to
charity. Special allowances are made for youth hunters (Type 169
license).
Management hunts are available on a space available
basis. The fee for a management hunt will be $200 for a one day hunt and
your success is guaranteed. If you do not harvest an animal during a
management hunt you may reschedule another hunt or have your fee
refunded. Valle Venado Land & Cattle reserves the right to establish
which animals may be harvested during a management hunt.

Mule
Deer
2008 : Season - Nov 17thd through Dec 2nd
The eastern half of the ranch does have a population of mule deer.
In 2007 our first mule deer buck was harvested. It was a large mature 8 point animal.
Since our herd is quite small we have decided to limit the harvest this
year to those who really want to try to take an animal. With the mule
deer package you are also allowed a limit of whitetail deer with out any
additional fees.
If you have more money than good sense feel free to book a
mule deer hunt for the 2008 season at $12,500 per gun. This is a 5 day hunt and you will have
exclusive access to the ranch during the hunt. Harvest would be limited
to one buck only.
